What is 7 Card Stud?

Principle of Draw Poker:

The main principle of all stud poker games is dealing cards one by one (except the first round) with some of them dealt face-up and others face-down and betting after each card is dealt. 7 card stud is not different. In the first round, each player receives two face-down and one face up card, after which the first betting round takes place. In the second round each player receives one face-up card followed by the second betting round. The fifth and the sixth card are also dealt face-up and followed by betting rounds. The seventh card is dealt face-down and the final betting round takes place before the showdown.

Each betting round in 7 card stud is opened by the player whose face-up cards show the best hand. If two players have poker hands of equal values among their face-up cards, the first player in the clockwise direction from the dealer opens the betting round.

At the showdown each player has seven cards with three of them face-down and four face-up. The player must combine the best five card hand out of his seven cards. For example, if a player has 2, 2, 10, J, J, K, K he should play J, J, K, K with any other card as two pairs.

Kankakee:

7 card stud has many variations Mainly based on the use of wild cards. One of such variations is Kankakee. In the game of Kankakee, all the rules of 7 card stud apply, but the first face-up card dealt to each player serves as the wild card for this player only.
