How to Control Dice in Easy Steps:

Dice control is not a new phenomenon. Already in the World War II, soldiers used to perform it. Dice control of that period was based on sliding the dice down the layout. The slider technique was then used on the back street, in illegal New York casinos and in Vegas in its early days. However, casino bosses quickly noticed that dice control decreases their income and took countermeasures against the slider. Nowadays, a thin piece of wire is stringed across the center of each casino craps table and a special rule is defined, according to which, the shooting player to throw the dice the way they will hit the opposite wall of the table and break their trajectory.

As fast as casinos adapt to advantage techniques, advantage techniques adapt to casino conditions. Since casinos took their countermeasures against dice control, dice control was modified and, even though became less effective than previously, still profits well trained players.

Dice control is quite a complicated technique that requires a lot of knowledge and training. We will try and review all essential aspects of dice control in this and further articles, starting from dice setting method.

Lesson 1: Dice Setting

Dice setting is the easiest part of dice control, but not the less important one. Without knowing any other dice control method, a player can gain a certain advantage by only setting the dice properly, although using dice setting without further control of the shot will hardly help the shooter overcome the house edge of any standard casino.

To learn and train dice control technique, you must first get a pair of standard casino dice. Such dice can be found in any drugstore or be 'borrowed' from a casino. Take these two dice the way 5s will be on top. Now turn them so 1s will point to the left and 6s to the right, the way 1 of one die and 6 of another one will touch if you hold the dice with two fingers. If you separate the dice now, you will see that inside faces are 6 and 1, which form a losing 7. Outside faces, which during the shot will be under your finger tips, also are 6 and one, which gives us another 7 in total. Playing in a casino, you will probably prefer not to manipulate the dice too much, so any other position, where both inside and outside faces form 7 points will serve.

Now, if during the throw the dice will not separate, or at least will not spin over the throw axis, we will eliminate 2 of 6 losing combinations. As was described in an earlier article, odds of 7 are 1/6. To eliminate the house edge these odds must be reduced to 7/43. With a perfectly executed control shot, odds of 7 become as low as 1/9. So, if at least 1out of 14 controlled shots is performed successfully, the game still remains favorable to the player. Of course, the player can not shoot alone, he must be changed by other players. While ordinary players shoot and roll out random numbers, the player who came to profit from craps must bet the table minimum on their shots, but when a player who knows to control the dice takes the cubes in his hand, it is the time to wager the maximum. A group of control shooters, occupying the entire table can beat the casino quite seriously. However, most casinos will bar such group as soon as the dealer notices that something goes wrong.
