Gambling terms From A to B

To help you to improve your gambling vocabulary every week I will post some of the terms you should know, and I will be doing them in alphabetical order.

Action
The amount of money you have put into the pot by the end of the game.

Active Player
In poker this term means someone who has not folded yet.

Add-on
In Poker this means the action of buying more chips once a tournament has started.

Aggregate Winnings
The total amount of winnings.

Arm
An expression from craps. It means a roller who is so good that they can change the odds of the game. No one is really sure if a skill like this really exists, but you should know that the dealers at the craps table will insist that to insure a random roll the dice must hit the far wall of the table.

Baccarat
This game goes by many names like Punto banco, Chemin De Fer and the James Bond Game. The game is played using 6 or 8 decks of cards and a player needs no other skill then to be able to count to 9.

Banker
In a game of cards the banker is the dealer and in games like Baccarat the banker is a player at the table and not an employee of the casino.

Bankroll
Also known in slang as your wad or your roll. Your bankroll is the total amount of money you have to back your bets. There are 3 levels a bankroll can be on. The first is your total wad. This is the amount of money you have set aside to for all the gambling you do. The next is your traveling roll is what you bring with you on any single gambling excursion. The third level of this is your daily roll; this is the amount you have set aside for gambling on any 1 day of an excursion.

Barred
Barred means the same as banned. It means at no time can you ever enter the casino again.
