Gin Rummy is a simple game that does not require hours of learning before you can play. The object of the game is to make 3 sets of cards. Gin Rummy is won when one player discards and leaves him self 2 sets of 3 cards and one set of 4. The cards can be three of a kind and a four of a kind or a 3 or 4 card run. All runs must be of the same suit. The game is started with the dealer dealing both players with 10 cards. He will then take the deck of leftover cards and flip over the top card. The starting player must either take the flipped over card or the top cad of the pile then put one of his cards face up on the pile so that the player never has more then 10 cards. The next player now has the choice to take the card you just discarded or the top card from the face down deck. Once a player has obtained a winning hand he will take his extra card and place it face down on the table. The player will them set out his cards is the three different sets for all to see. Scoring is easy to do in Gin Rummy. After someone goes out your opponents hand is turned over. For going out the winner gets 25 points, then you add up all the unmatched cards in the losers hand. Let's say they have 3, 3's and 3, 4's and a 5, 6, 7, 9 then that would be a 27 plus your 25 gives you a 52. Gin Rummy usually is played to either 100 or 300 but you can play to whatever you like. |
