In April, Worth County is going to be the site for the first ever casino in Iowa.
The Diamond Jo casino would be open for the public from the first week of April.

The Diamond Jo Casino is the first of Iowa casinos to open for public. The casino is located at Worth County and its opening is due to the first week of April. The casino grand opening is scheduled to April 19. Three more casinos are about to be open in Iowa later this year. The casino contains 500 slot machines, 15 table games and 5 poker tables.

According to the casinos General Manager Jim Dickstein, about 80 percent of the casinos employees have been already hired. He said they intend to employ total of 400 workers in the casino. Over 15,000 people applied for casino jobs.

The permit to build a casino in Worth County passed with 70 percent of the total votes. Dickstein said that due to the casino location, big portion of the income will be from Minnesota.
