Monarch Casino and Resort that owns and operates the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno had revealed its plans for the expansion of the Atlantis Casino. The building of the next phase of expansion is scheduled to start by the end of 2006 or by the beginning of 2007.

According to the expansion project, a new gambling area will be added to the casino level. The current casino floor will be enlarged by more 20,000 square foot, which is about 40 percent. The plans include an opening of a new sports book and race book and an expansion, and renovation of the existing poker room.

Monarch Casino and Resort had also announced hiring Ronald Rowan as the Company new Chief Financial Officer. Rowan was formerly the CFO and Corporate Secretary for Casino Data Systems. Rowan will replace Ben Farahi, who has submitted his resignation as Co-Chairman of the Board, Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer on May 23, 2006.
