Backgammon Banned in the Holey land

Gambling on backgammon online has recently been outlawed in Israel

Israel's State Prosecutor recently announced his intentions to outlaw web sites that allow players to gamble on Backgammon Online.

Online gambling on games like poker or blackjack have been outlawed for several yearsin Israel but a loophole in the law still allowed Israelis to enjoy gambling on Backgammon just not in Online Casinos, only in dedicated backgammon sites. Because of this decision the police have already notified the largest Israeli online backgammon gambling site and told them to pack up and get out of town.

In a move taken obviously from the United States, the Israeli Government is also making it illegal to for banks and credit card companies to transfer money to accounts used to place bets or from Gambling winnings and failure to stop these transactions would be considered a criminal felony.

The State prosecutor made his decision based on a recommendation that was written by the state prosecutor's financial department last year.

It has long been Israel's policy not to allow gambling within its boarders, and in recent years has been making I their practice to crack down hard on all forms of illegal gambling online and in underground Mob run casinos.
