A Bar owner and 26 patrons were arrested when the police raided the bar during a poker tournament.

The owner of a bar in Round Lake was arrested Wednesday night for operating an illegal gambling den.

The local police with help from officers from the Lack County Metropolitan Enforcement Group executed a search warrant of the bar located at 302 Nippersink Road at 8PM.

Once inside the Round Lake bar, police found several table poker tournaments taking place and some illegal slot machines. The local police chief said besides the poker games it was also common for people to be playing dice at the bar, besides the bars sports betting pools help regularly.

?Those kinds of things go on in bars across the county. It?s illegal,? said the police chief. ?The reason we?re here tonight is because this was so blatant.?

The police arrested the bars owner; he now faces charges of gambling and keeping a gambling place. The same bar was also busted in a police sting for selling alcohol to minors just a month ago.

24 people were taken into custody during the raid. No charges were issued as of late Wednesday night.

With the help of the MEG multi jurisdictional task force the police were able to investigate the bar using undercover agents to observe the bar and participate in the illegal activities like the poker tournaments.

53 officers for several departments took place in the undercover operation. After an agent managed to gain the trust of the bartender they were introduced to the owner and then invited to the games.
