Casino marketers in Connecticut are looking for a way to increase the number of visitors during the week. The business peak of any casino is the weekends. That is why the main challenge today for any casino executive or marketer is to find more visitors during weekdays. The search for creative ideas to attract more clients during slower days is the main objective of most casinos nowadays.
According to Rober DeSalvio, Executive Vice President of Marketing, at Foxwoods Resort Casino, the weekend is the day they have higher volume of revenues, around 30 % of the business. Every day the casino welcomes around 40,000 visitors.
DeSalvio estimated weekends are about 30 percent busier than weekdays at Foxwoods. The casino has 40,000 average daily visitors, so that can be a swing of more than 10,000 people. Mitchell Etess, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Mohegan Sun, said that over 50 % of their business is done during the weekend. The casino welcomes around 35,000 visitors a day. Etess said that sometimes they organize aggressive campaigns in order to increase the number of daily visitors, because every single day is important to them. Mostly, the campaigns are based on giveaways like money, free rooms or cars, but it can be anything, from a shopping discount to food coupons.
Both the Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun casino have been organizing meetings and conventions at their sites during the week offering big jackpots, discounts and free tickets to events to patrons.
