Gambling Charity Seeks Funding

Scotland gambling charity expands their activity.

A gambling charity in Scotland seeks funding to expand their activity. Statistics shows that there is a rise in the number of people seeking help fighting gambling addiction. Though Scotland suffers from the highest rate of gambling addicts in the UK, there are not enough services to deal with it, comparing to drug or alcohol addicts. The charity fears that the numbers of gambling addicts might rise due to the easy access to internet gambling. The charity said that even without advertising their services, they already helped more than 100 people who are fighting with gambling addiction.
Getting the funding, they hope to expand their activities by recruiting three regional development officers to deal with the issue.

A former gambling addict, who asked the gambling charity for help, talks about the easiness of falling into online gambling addiction. He says that in one of the gambling websites he was familiar with, you can register in three credit cards, so each time you reach your credit limit, you can register again until you lose all you have.

One of the gambling charity goals is to get the industry to be more involved and aware of problematic gambling, by supervised gaming and giving information about help services to those who have difficulties.
