Lakes Entertainment Inc. reported the company tripled its losses during 2005.
The Minnesota-based gaming company Lakes Entertainment Inc. announced on Friday that the company tripled its losses during 2005. The company is currently collaborating with the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians in developing a casino in El Dorado County.
The casino building plan includes more than 380,000-square-foot casino resort on a land in Shingle Springs owned by the tribe. The project is facing legal and administrative challenges for the past years.
Lakes Entertainment Inc. reported on Friday about a loss of 11.9 million dollars for the past year. In 2004, the company reported a loss of 4 million dollars. Lakes total revenue in 2005 was 18.2 million dollars, 4 percent higher than 2004 17.6 million dollars.
Lakes believe that the 4 percent rise was caused by the expanded licensing fees from the World Poker Tour. Still, the growth was balanced by the rising outcome caused mainly by marketing and operating costs and the increasing legal fees.
