Casino security guards die in horrible traffic accident in South Africa

The Johannesburg traffic officials are saying that the 10 people, whom were killed yesterday in a grisly highway traffic accident on the N1 Highway in Johannesburg, were all from the same security company working for the Monte Casino near Johannesburg, South Africa. The three men and seven women traveling in the car, all died on the scene after a very serious accident.

Just after midday on Saturday the company guards from the Monte Casino were traveling at a high speed down the Johannesburg highway when they plunged across traffic to slam in the barriers. There was so much damage to the vehicle that it took more than two hours for emergency personnel to free the trapped passengers in the vehicle.

A Johannesburg metro police spokesperson, said a Toyota Venture had tried to overtake a truck when the driver lost control and smashed into the median barrier.

The accident occurred between the 14th Avenue and Beyers Naude Drive off ramps just before 2 pm on Saturday.

Malcolm Midgley from the Johannesburg emergency services said that in the last three months this is the second serious accident on the highway due to high speed causing fatalities.

They are hoping to reach citizens and stop the fast driving that is reckless and kills scores of people every year on South African highways. They are also planning a few new courses for traffic safety and maybe implementing new laws aimed at stricter penalties for those caught breaking the law in such a manner.
