In New Jersey banned for life means for life

A man is barred from all major American casinos after a self imposed ban in NJ Casino

A New Jersey man only identified as SD was ruled against by a New Jersey court in his attempt to have his name removed from an Atlantic City self imposed gambling ban.

Several years ago Atlantic City casinos came up with the option to have your self banned from all of the casinos on the state. This was to help people who are admitted gambling addicts. Gamblers had the option of being banned for 1 year, 5 years or banned for life.

The problem was that the New Jersey casinos are sharing the list with other casinos outside of Atlantic City. Many casinos are owned by the same groups, so the lists were being passed around and the ban is being enforced at off of these casinos.

SD had opted to ban himself for life from all NJ casinos without being notified that many casinos outside the garden state would also be banning him. He decided to go for the ban just because of the casinos being only a short drive to his home, but now he can not even go into many of the Las Vegas casinos and many Indian casinos as well across the country.

So he decided to go to court to get him self off the list. Unfortunately the judge decided that to take him off the list he put himself on would be detrimental to the effectiveness of the self imposed banning list.

SD has the option to have the decision reviewed by a panel of judges.
