International Gambling Ring Busted

Police raided 13 homes in one of the largest ever gambling raids in Viet Nam

Police were tipped off to a large international sportsbook operation operating in Viet Nam, police immediately placed the suspects under 24 hour a day surveillance.

After completing their surveillance on the group the police aided by units from the central police department raided 13 homes at the same time using over 100 police officers, and found bookies taking billions of dong in bets.

Police arrested 14 people who eventually confessed to illegally working as bookies for a large gang with connections to betting companies overseas.

According to the police several of the men arrested are experts with computers and were responsible for classifying and summing up the bets before sending them overseas for use by the online betting companies they were working for.

Besides this the gang had clients in the city and in the local provinces.

The 13 homes that were raided by the police were found to be well equipped with high speed internet access, LCD monitors and several lap tops according to the police reports.

Police said they are continuing the investigation to see if there are any more cells involved with this gambling ring in hopes of taking them down as well.

In Viet Nam all forms of gambling are illegal and punishable by lengthy prison terms.
