A father of two from Cathedral City was arrested on Friday, after he left his two kids in a car with some fast food and half a bottle of beer for 3 hours while he was inside playing the slot machines.

The police were called around 2 in the morning when a security officer for the Spa Resort and Casino spotted 2 children that looked lost standing outside the casino, according to a Palm Springs Police sergeant.

According to the police the children, a girl 10 and her seven year old brother had been waiting for their father to return from the casino for over 3 hours, and they were left in the car with fast food and a half bottle of beer.

Officers eventually found the kids father, a 39 year old inside the casing about an hour after they found the children, and according to police reports the father was still reluctant to leave his slot machine even after being told his two kids had been taken into police custody.

The father was arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor child abuse. The kids were given to Child Protective Services. The father a Chilean citizen will also ace a felony charge of possession of false documents for having a fake Social Security card in his possession at the time of his arrest.
