While Republicans were trying to pass a bill banning online gambling in the USA one republican was trying to make pass a law of his own allowing online poker from North Dakota. This lone Republican feels that by allowing North Dakota to run an Online Poker Room they will be able to make enough money from the extra taxes it brings in for much needed public services, and the state owned bank will be able to increase its profits by handling all the transactions.

Unfortunately for this young Republican his fellow party members have made such a good argument for banning online gambling, that they basically killed this initiative. The Unlawful Internet gambling Act is a public policy and must be adhered to by all states.

The young Republican was trying to model his plan after the UK gambling set up, where all the online casinos are regulated, monitored and taxed. Just as other republicans have used this online gambling ban to try to retain their seats in the senate, so was this senator trying to pass this bill in hopes of keeping his job.

The bill was passed in the North Dakota House, but as rejected by the State Senate, and now with the ban being passed he is going to drop the idea.
