A group of citizens are against the building of a Slots casino in the Lehigh Valley area. This group is preparing to keep their eyes on plans to build a casino on the former site of the Bethlehem Steel Company.
The group, calling themselves the
Bethlehem Defense Fund recently announced its intentions to hire lawyers, traffic consultants, and engineers to keep an eye on those trying to build a casino in their small little town.
When they were asked why they do not want the casino to move in they said that the casino will bring hundreds of thousands of people into their small rustic town. There will be people coming and going at all hours of the day and night, and the traffic will become insane.
A Local Attorney and one from Allentown PA have been hired to try to block the casino from getting a state casino license.
"The group retained us in order to, shall we say, pursue all possible avenues" with respect to preventing gaming and casinos in the area, Rawlings said told The Express-Times of Easton.
Should the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board choose to build their casino in the Bethlehem area, I can assure you a very close and meticulous oversight of any and all operations as relates to the city of Bethlehem."
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will make their decision on the 20th of December.
