A 5 month undercover operation came to an end yesterday in NJ when police raided 15 illegal casinos located in private houses around universities around the New Jersey area.
Many of the casinos offered Blackjack, Baccarat, Keno and poker and other casino games. The casinos also were serving alcohol to the players, many of which were underage to be drinking.
The police had undercover agents both working in the casinos and acting as players in the Casino. Some of the games were live games and some of the games like Keno and Baccarat were played from computer terminals connected to an online casino.
51 college age gamblers were arrested during the raid and 3 University Professors were also nabbed in the raid. 27 casino workers including the owners of the New Jersey homes the casinos were housed in were also arrested.
All the students and the Professors were eventually released. Most of the casino workers were also released after posting 10,000 dollars each in bail.
If found guilty each casino employee can face up to 1 year in jail and those in charge could face up to 5 years in Jail.
New Jersey Police are calling this a great win in the fight against illegal gambling.
