A bill asking to ban the online gambling industry was brought up on Thursday by 115 lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to Rep. Rick Boucher, a Virginia Democrat, the 12 billion dollars online gambling industry should be outlawed since its servers as a major channel for money laundering and other crimes. Rep. Bob Goodlatte, a Virginia Republican and on of the major sponsors of the bill, said that internet gambling attracts young people to gamble.
The legislation would particularly forbid gambling websites from accepting credit cards, checks, wire and internet transfers. The bill also includes a maximum prison sentence of five years for breach.
