New Jersey casinos revenue grew in 11.6 percent last January comparing to 2005 January. According to the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, in January local casinos earned 406.3 million dollars from gambling.
Atlantic City Hilton saw the biggest rise in revenues, 30.1 percent comparing to former year, followed by Showboat, which its revenues grew in 22.1 percent. The Sands and Trump Marina faced a drop in their revenues from slots, while Trump Plaza saw a decline in its revenues from table gaming.
During last January, New Jersey casinos had to pay 8 percent of their revenue, total of 32.5 million dollars, in taxes for the Casino Revenue Fund. The Casino Revenue Fund uses the casino tax money to provide programs for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
