After he met with Melbourne stewards, Michael Walker will be able to participate in Cadbury Guineas.

New Zealand top jockey Michael Walker will be able to participate in Cadbury Guineas on Saturday after he met stewards in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Walker had to meet the Melbourne stewards, headed by chief stipe Des Gleeson, regarding his comments in an interview from last year where he admitted drugs abuse and gambling involvement. He also noted that he never went through a drug test during his riding period in Victoria in 2004.

According to Racing Victoria stewards, Walker ensured them in Tuesday meeting that he never used drugs or alcohol during his riding time in Victoria. They also added that Walker did go through a drug test while he was riding in Victoria and the results were negative. Walker admitted gambling in casinos and that he had never gambled on horseracing. Walker said he has been dealing with his gambling and drugs problems by going through counseling.
