Online Gambling Crack Down looks at Investors

Investors of online gambling sites are now under investigation by the Government

If you profit from online gambling we are coming for you, seems to be the message the United States wants everyone to hear.

As part of an expanding investigation in the billions of dollars a year online gambling industry the justice department is subpoenaing at least 4 Wall Street investment banks.

These 4 banks had underwritten the original public offerings of the largest and most popular online casinos. Several American banks were involved in this even though they knew there were legal issues involved.

Even though the online casinos do not operate in the USA and during their initial public offerings they were offered on the London Stock Exchange, many companies doing business with the online casinos have holdings in the USA, and could become the next target.

None of the largest banks in the USA would underwrite the initial public offerings, because of the legal ambiguity of these sites. Even though they are illegal under American law they were still accessible to Americans.

Due to the frustration of the United States governments inability to go after the online casinos themselves because they are located overseas in areas where this type of gambling is legal they seem to have decided to go after the casinos American partners, marketing firms and now it seems investors as well.
