PA Counties Looking for Money to Destroy Illegal Gambling

PA counties are trying to decide how to split gambling proceeds to help fight illegal cambling.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has finally has OK'd money to be used to fight the infiltration of illegal slot machines and other gambling machines that are competing with the casinos.

Almost 1 Million dollars has been given to the different police departments and district attorneys in Allegheny County, Washington County and the Northern regional Police to help make sure they have all the tools they need to crackdown on the illegal machines and the owner and operators of the illegal machines before the machines become too many in number to bust them all.

Pennsylvania passed legislation a year ago that would allow slot casinos to operate, and bring in an additional 5 Million dollars a year that currently goes to help pay for increased Law Enforcement. These agencies are then responsible to make sure that unlicensed machines are not giving out cash payouts. Currently as many as 14 other cities have applied for more money to be able to increase their police departments and hire more state attorneys.

A Spokesperson for one of the Counties District Attorney said that no decisions on how to split up the money has been made and that talks will continue between the counties that have licensed gambling to decide how to best divide the money to ensure that the police get the money to help the infiltration of illegal machines into small shops. The more illegal machines spread the more money that the counties will have to put into the police and less they can give to tax breaks and put in to the schools to hire more teachers and for better materials for the class rooms.
