A Judge has ruled that two former law enforcement officials are to stand trial after being accused of gambling illegally at the Chickasha Elk lodge, after looking over the evidence against the two men.
But the same judge also ruled that there was not enough evidence against a third officer that was also arrested at the Elks Lodge to charge him with a felony charge of gambling by a peace officer.
These 3 officers are part of an investigation of 8 former and current police officers from Grady County Oklahoma being charged after getting caught in a police raid on the lodge back in September of 2006, after the lodge was suspected of housing an illegal gambling ring.
Among the 8 suspected police officers are a current sheriff and his wife who was recently fired from the police force.
The local District Attorney was conducting an undercover operation investigating the Elks Lodge for more then a year. During the raid eight electronic gambling machines were discovered and evidence was found that lotteries and poker tournaments were also regularly held at the lodge. All the gambling machines and gambling related items were confiscated for evidence.
