Atlantic City Crushed by Competition and Cheap Flights

Signs of recovery from recession seem streaked everywhere; however, there seems to be no scope in Atlantic City. Marketing attempts are strong in Atlantic City.

Atlantic city is being advertised not only as the gambling Mecca of the east cost, but as a family vacation spot as well!

The June revenues for the Atlantic has been quoted at $322.7 million, this is nearly a 13.6% decline when compared to June 2008.  Though the current numbers are low when compared to the past year, it is a lot better than the decline in revenues for May.  Notably, the numbers in June are better than May despite all the recession trends and competition from neighboring states.

When all is going down in Atlantic City two major competitors from the Connecticut, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are working together in their advertising campaign to bring in clients from North-West to Atlantic City.  "We can drive more business together than we can individually" seems to be their plan to bring in clients despite being competitors for each other.

Economic downturn has meant a drop of 7% of the Mohegan Slots revenue and 14% of Foxwoods revenue.  The current advertising campaign is set to do something to bring back the revenues carried off by players heading to Atlantic City.

However, there are no better stories for Atlantic City either as seen above.  Just that those businesses are cutting each other’s throats by friendly and non-friendly measures to some how keep their businesses going.

The cheap flights from Atlantic City to the Connecticut casinos are making trends worse for the Atlantic City casinos.
