The Atlantic City city council has decided to delay a ban on smoking in all of New Jerseys casinos. The council has decided that with the collapsing economy the damage done to the industry would be devastating and that the best course of action would be to hold off on the ban till next year.
Unfortunately for those who enjoy a smoke while playing the slots or one of the table games the city council did not decide to postpone the smoking ban in time to stop the ban from taking effect, so the delay in the smoking ban will not take place until October 27th.
At 12:01AM casino workers had to go around the casino and inform all players that they had to extinguish their cigarettes.
When the ban is over in 12 days players will be able to smoke in the casino on only 25 percent of the casinos floor.
During the 12 day smoking ban casino patrons will not have to go outside to brave the cold for a smoke, but may go to several of the casinos lounges that will continue to allow smoking.
The decision to delay the ban has made the casinos breath a little easier. The big fear was that if the smoking ban went thru the casinos would lose millions of dollars a year to casinos is the surrounding states that still allow smoking in their casinos.
