According to Mesa Police, a woman left her 10 month old baby alone in her house while she went out all night long Friday night to go gambling with a friend.
The young girl was found alone, crying and in a wet diaper by her grandparents who live in the house next door.
The girl's grandfather, James Schwartzmann woke up at 5 in the morning and when he noticed that his daughter in laws car was not in the driveway he feared the car had been stolen. His wife went over to the house and found the baby crying and no sign of their daughter in law.
After calling their son, who is in the military and currently stationed in Florida, they called the police who came right over to make a report. Police were still at the home when Ada Schwartzmann the 33 year old mother finally arrived home around 6AM Saturday morning. She was immediately taken into police custody.
Ada told the police that she had been unable to sleep so she went to the store around 1 am to get gas for the car and a pack of cigarettes. Since her daughter was sound asleep in a baby swing she decided it would be ok for her to run out to the store for just a few minutes. She returned a short while latter, but then after a friend called her and asked if she wanted to go gambling she once again left the child at home alone.
When police asked why she did not just leave the child with her grandparents, she said that James, the child's grandfather treated her poorly.
Ada has been arrested and will be charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
