Republicans Reverse Stance on Online Gambling

Republicans remove ban on online casino gambling from party platform after overwhelming call from voters to do so.

Those who are in favor of legalizing online casino gambling struck a big win in the Republican Party Tuesday when the Republican Party announced they would not be adding a call for banning online gambling to its platform. Thanks to the help of the Poker Players Alliance who helped rally loyal Republicans who are not in agreement with the party's stance against online gambling.

Senator Richard Burr from North Carolina is the co-chairman of the committee who decides on the party's platform said that the decision to remove the online gambling ban from the platform was a move to widen the parties appeal. Once it was apparent that voters are not behind this move it was dropped.

When asked about the Republicans dropping this issue an independent voter from Florida said this was just one less thing he disagrees with the Republican Party on. He said he will vote for the person he feels will stay out of his life and home the most.

The republicans opened a website where people could come and leave their comments on the platform. They were overwhelmed by the amount of 2 or 3 sentence replies against the ban on internet gambling, and in favor of legalization and strict regulation.

Some are worried about the response from the party's religious right wing, who is already calling for the ban on all online casinos to be returned to the platform, but it does not look good for them.
