For several years I have been playing at a weekly poker game every Friday night and after the first few months I noticed that what was served at the game had a powerful affect on the game itself. Poker SubsWhat I mean by this is that some foods slowed down the game because the host had to tend to the food until it was ready; we had to stop and bring out plates and stuff or the food was messy and from time to time would get all over the table and people were constantly getting up to wash their hands. I noticed that foods that only required one hand and were relatively clean to eat made the game run smooth. This is why I started the Poker Foods section for this site because if you are looking to play poker you want to play as many hands as possible. No one wants to stop every 2 hands for 10 minutes while someone flips burgers or has to wash their hands before they can handle the cards. So here is another great recipe that will help you at your next poker game. Original recipe yield: 4 servings. INGREDIENTS: 1 head red leaf lettuce, rinsed and torn 6 tablespoons olive oil 1/2 pound sliced Capacola sausage In a large bowl, toss together the lettuce, tomatoes and onion. In a separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil, white wine vinegar, parsley, garlic, basil, red pepper flakes and oregano. Pour over the salad, and toss to coat evenly. Refrigerate for about 1 hour. Spread the submarine rolls open, and layer the Capacola, salami, prosciutto, and provolone cheese evenly on each roll. Top with some of the salad, and as many pickle slices as desired. Close the rolls and serve. |
