Many of you probably know what Russian Roulette is, and others may just know it as the game played in the back room of the bar in the Deer Hunter.
Learn to Play Computerized Russian RouletteThe object of this casino game was to not die, but in the newer version it is to gamble on who will win. The way it was played was 6 people would site at a table with a 6 shot revolver in the center of the table. 1 bullet was then placed in the gun and the cylinder was spun so no one could know where the bullet was and they would bet on who would live and who would be dead. The game was also played in the prisoner of war camps in Vietnam, American soldiers were forced to play for the amusement of the guards, but they had a different angle to the game. They played the game with a 6 shooter, but the gun had 5 bullets and 1 safe spot, so prisoners knew that chances were they were going to die. Players would then take turns placing the gun to their heads and pulling the trigger. Every round you did not die, you were one step closer to winning. Today this game is making a comeback in popularity, but as a computer generated simulation. 6 players sit around a table a replica of a 6 shooter is on the table but is connected to a computer. No bullet is added to the gun and the cylinder does not need to be spun. The betting in Russian Roulette is done by spectators, who can bet on the overall winner or who will get knocked out that round. The game is not catching on in the larger casinos, but I have seen it is some of the smaller casinos in Nevada outside of Las Vegas.
