Sic Bo Strategy – Know the House Edge

The Chinese dice game Sic Bo is not any less of an exciting game when compared to Craps.  Though both the games are dice games, there are lots of differences on how these games are played.

Sic Bo is played with three dice and you will be placing a bet on the number that will show up in the dice after the roll.

  • You have the option of betting on a single number that will show up in one dice (1 through 6), the pay off is even with a house edge of 7.8%.
  • You can bet on the numbers that will show up in two dice (pairs), the pay off is 2:1, with a house edge of 7.8%
  • You can bet on the numbers that will show up in three dice (trips), the pay off is 3:1, with a house edge of 7.8%
  • You can bet on the combination of numbers in the two dice, the pay off will be 5:1, with a house edge of 16.6%.
  • You can bet on the combination of numbers in the three dice, the pay off will be 6:1 to 50:1., with a house edge ranging between 9.7% to 47.2%
  • You can make a small bet stating that the total will be between 4 and 10, the house edge is 2.7%.
  • You can make a big bet stating that the total will be between 11 and 17, the house edge is 2.7%.

The big and the small bets are essentially the ones with the lowest house edge and the rest of the betting types come with a huge house edge for the casino.  So, it is better to play the big and small bets most of the time.

The worse and risky bet that you can make with Sic Bo is on the Triples.  The payout is high 150:1, but the possibility of having this combination is really rare; however, the house edge is nearly 30%, which is real high and essentially not the kind a money maker player will love to bet on.
