How to Play
Texas Holdem Poker is the most popular poker game played today. Holdem only takes minutes to learn, but a lifetime to perfect. If you are new to the game I recommend playing for free before heading over to Vegas with your own cash.
How to Play:
- The first step in Texas Holdem Poker is to Post the Blinds. This is when the 2 players immediately to the left of the dealer have to place a predetermined bet before any cards are dealt.
- After posting the blinds the next step in Texas Holdem Poker the dealer will deal each player 2 cards, these are the only unique cards the players have to make their 5 card hand. These cards are known as the hole cards or pocket cards.
- After receiving the hole cards a round of betting starts called the pre-flop. This is the first time players can raise, call or fold. It is rare for a Texas Holdem Poker player to fold during the pre-flop and any raises are usually small.
- The next round is the Flop. The flop is the first 3 communal cards the dealer puts out for everyone's use.
- After the flop in Texas Holdem Poker is another round of raising, calling and folding. More players will fold at this point, and the raises will be a little bigger then in the pre-flop.
- The next communal card to be flipped over is the Turn card. Now players start to really get a good feel for their chances of winning.
- The betting after the turn card will usually increase fast and so will those folding.
- The last card to be flipped is the River. Now each player knows what their hand is.
- After the river in Texas Holdem Poker is the showdown this is the last round of betting then everyone who remained in the game turns over their cards and a winner is declared.
After learning these steps you will be ready to play Texas Holdem Poker. I recommend playing at least 50 hands of free play before playing for actual money.
Good luck.
