The second annual conference on Combating Cybercrime in betting and gamming, was held on January 24 2006. The object of this conference was to teach the operators of gambling websites how to protect themselves and their players from fraud.

Since the first conference was held in 2005 the incidences of DoS attacks, identity theft and card fraud have continued to skyrocket proving that the owners of the online casinos and poker rooms need to do more to protect themselves and their players.

Some of the topics of the conference were how to protect your site from existing and emerging threats, implementing age verification and reducing the risks of cyber extortion.

After going to the mobile gambling summit I learned a great deal on what is next in the world of gambling. The ability to log into your favorite poker room or online casino from your cell phone or PDA is just 1 of the many advances being made, as well as age verification and advances in fraud protection for both the operator and the player.

I was expecting to see lectures on how to expand the industry but what I was amazed to see was a lecture about social responsibility and mobile gambling. They were talking about having to take personal responsibility and cut a player off if he is obviously dumping everything he has, and running an honest game.

All in all I learned allot about the mobile gambling industry from this summit and how even though there goal is to take your money it should be in a fair manner.

On the 27th and 28th of February 2006 in London England the IEA will be holding a conference on The Future of betting and gaming winning strategies in a dynamic new era. Some of the speakers are the CEO of 888.com and the Chairman of The gambling Commission. Some of the things listed for discussion are the gambling act and how it will affect the industry, new technology, global opportunities for expansion and many others.
